Zarbdar is a free word game in which you build a crossword as you play. Here are short answers to the questions players ask most. For the full rules and scoring, see how to play Zarbdar.
Is Zarbdar free?
Yes. Zarbdar is free to play, with no ads and no in-app purchases. You can play it online at zarbdar.app/play in any modern browser.
Can I play Zarbdar online?
Yes. Zarbdar runs in your browser at zarbdar.app/play on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to download or install.
Is Zarbdar on Android?
An Android app is coming to Google Play. The app plays fully offline and keeps your progress on your phone.
Do I need an account to play Zarbdar?
No. You can play without signing in, and your progress is kept in your browser. Signing in with Google is optional: it saves your progress online so it follows you to other browsers and devices.
How is Zarbdar different from a crossword?
A crossword has clues with one right answer each. Zarbdar has no clues: any real English word that fits the open squares and keeps the letters already in place is accepted, so you build the crossword yourself.
Which words does Zarbdar accept?
Zarbdar accepts more than 73,000 English words. Each word family counts once per board, so PLAY and PLAYS count as one, and offensive words are filtered out.
What happens if I type a wrong word?
The game tells you why the word was refused and deletes it so you can try again. A wrong word resets your chain multiplier but costs no points.
How do I save my progress?
Progress is saved automatically in your browser after every board. To keep it online and use it on other devices, sign in with Google on the Zarbdar start screen.
How do I delete my account?
Open the About page from the (i) button on the start screen and choose Delete my account. Your online account and saved progress are deleted at once. See the privacy policy for what is stored.
Does Zarbdar have a time limit?
No. There are no timers in Zarbdar. Take as long as you like over each word.
